Transforming Lives In Schools

Transforming Lives In Schools

Worldwide, our missionary apprentices focus on building relationships and discipling students within their communities. Their presence acts as a bridge for young people between their placement church and the schools. In Canada, a team was recently re-established in Vancouver and is already making a great impact.

This year’s Pais Vancouver team is headed by Jess Mangnall and Hiba Danial, and they have the opportunity to serve at a local Christian school. In January, they launched an after school Youth Alpha club for students to join.

Since its launch, the team has seen an average of 30 students attend weekly. Furthermore,13 students decided to follow Christ.

Through the conversations and connections made in Alpha, the Pais Vancouver team is now mentoring a group of 7th grade girls. Join us in prayer for the Pais Vancouver team as they seek wisdom and direction on how to proceed with this group of girls.

We are seeing similar stories happening with our other North America teams serving in Calgary, Colorado and Texas. During the month of February, those teams reached 951 students in their local communities.

Pais Africa is Growing!

Pais Africa is Growing!

This year marks the 30th anniversary of Pais! During this time, we have seen our leaders pioneer and establish Pais teams in 18 nations all over the world.

For the next 5 years, Pais is working to grow 2 nations per year. Our vision is that one day the primary mission of every Christian will be to advance the Kingdom of God and be equipped to do it the way Jesus modeled it. Growing in new nations allows us to multiply our impact across the globe!

In 2022, we start with two new nations in Africa:

Pais Uganda

In 2018, a pastor who lived in the United Kingdom connected with Pais England due to a shared passion in reaching young people and raising up missionaries. This pastor was originally from Uganda, and had the dream to take the Pais Movement to his home nation. Armstrong Okeyo, Pais Kenya’s National Director, served as a support in pioneering this nation.

After three years of sharing the vision of Pais with several local church leaders in the country, Pais Uganda officially launched in 2021 thanks to your continued support! Since its launch, Pais Uganda is now reaching 300 local youth on a monthly basis.

This year, the new Pais nation is partnering with three local churches in Northern Uganda, which was the center of the Uganda Civil War. The region still sees many negative impacts due to the conflict. There is a big need to raise up a generation of young people who are grounded in Christ and can make a difference.

Pais Tanzania

In May 2021, the Pais Kenya National Director also traveled to Tanzania and met with several churches who were interested in a Pais team. He shared the vision of reaching young people in the local communities, and one of the churches in Nkinga related to the mission! They decided to receive Pais missionaries and lay down the ground work for a new Pais nation.

Pais Tanzania officially launched this February 20th, 2022! A team leader was sent to Tanzania from Pais Kenya to help pioneer, and there are strong recruitment efforts for missionaries in Tanzania.

Join us in prayer!

Your prayers and financial contributions have been essential to the expansion of the Gospel in the African continent! Right now, Pais Uganda and Pais Tanzania are raising funds to provide a Training Conference for the new missionaries and to recruit even more apprentices who will reach young people. Pray with us as we raise the finances and for a good start of the mission year in Uganda and Tanzania.

2021 Year-In-Review: Pais Asia

As the year comes to an end, we are celebrating all that God has done through our Pais nations in 2021! During the month of December, we will share the highlights of each Pais region here in our blog. Read below to discover the great ministry stories from our nations in Asia:

Pais India

“We started the year 2021 wondering how we were going to lead young people in schools and churches with less resources and through a pandemic. But God showed us a way!

We used to lead a lunch club in-person for our students. This year we had to shift strategies as our Apprentices worked online from their homes and served locally  in their home countries and cities. We were so excited as we were able to lead the same school ministry online! We received great feedback from the students on how they always look forward to the Pais team session as it combines fun moments and life changing lessons. This year we are able to see around 16 students committed to learning more about Jesus and living by the Bible!

We are looking forward to seeing them soon in person in 2022! We continuously rejoice with God for what He has done in their lives.”

Pais Pakistan

“It has been so encouraging to see the Pais ministry in Pakistan grow over the years. Through all the ups and downs, God has been faithful. With each passing year, the Pais Pakistan seems to not just grow in experience, but in strength through outreach and in dedication to its mission.

During November 2021, our Global Haverim event was a major highlight with about 14 people participating. We started our study of the famous story of David and Goliath and focused on how to prepare for spiritual battles. It was encouraging to see how 4 Global Haverim participants have decided to join Pais Pakistan as Apprentices for 2022!

We are wishing that in the next 5 years young people who have no relationship with Christ will come to church, grow the church, and develop the church to reach other Asian Nations. Our goal is to give youth opportunities that will help them to become responsible, compassionate servants of Christ who are able to share the love of Christ and their personal experiences with others.”

Pais Philippines

“Even though the Philippines were in lockdown for most of the year, we definitely saw God moving through our ministry! We continued with our Pais Affiliate course, training young people on how to live on mission no matter where they are.

During November, one of our Affiliates led a Global Haverim group for her family and friends. She did a great job by getting everyone engaged even on Zoom. She included activities for the children and the adults, allowing them to study the Bible passage being guided by curiosity. Afterwards, her family members decided to also co-lead haverim groups! She was an example of multiplying the impact for the Kingdom.”

As the year comes to an end, we continue to celebrate all that God has done through our Pais nations in 2021! Read below to discover the great ministry stories from Australia:

Pais Australia

“This year, Pais Australia started an awesome partnership with Youth For Christ Australia.

“YFC is an evangelical movement of people unified by a common heart for Jesus and for young people. They demonstrated a Kingdom-centric partnership and are now raising even more full-time missionaries for Australia! YFC is helping Pais recruit more Australian young adults, and in turn, Pais is helping YFC plant full-time youth ministry teams in their partner churches.

“This was an answer to our prayers and we are already accepting new Apprentices to reach even more young people! Since they put us on their website and promoted us on their social media, we have received 12 applicants and 2 of them have been accepted for January!”

As the year comes to an end, we are celebrating all that God has done through our Pais nations in 2021! Read below to discover the great ministry stories from our nations in Europe:

Pais Denmark

“Hej🇩🇰, the work we do here in Denmark is a bit different from the typical Pais work you might know. We have the privilege of living at a boarding school while pioneering Pais Scandinavia.

This gives us the opportunity to build deep relationships because we share everyday life with the students and teachers. We see God working in relationships, fellowship and individual lives. A lot of the students have tough life stories, they often come from complicated family backgrounds or don’t feel appreciated.

But God really gives us the opportunity to create a culture of encouragement and understanding in the school. It’s unbelievable how God keeps blessing each moment and how he is opening up doors for us to reach those lives.

God provides, please pray that each of the students will personally experience God’s presence! It’s awesome what He already did and there is still so much more to come.”

Pais Faroe Islands

“Pioneering Pais on the Faroe Islands has been tougher than we thought. But a highlight of our year was when we had the Danish team over for a short term mission trip (May 2021). We raised awareness for schools’ ministry and people got a good taste of what Pais has to offer.

The team went in the public schools (primary and high schools) and were welcomed to come back anytime! They were in a local church and helped plan the pre-teen ministry, which has now officially started and is growing!  Started. We are looking forward for the team to come back in April 2022 as they will continue to invest more in the islands and pave the way for more open doors.”

Pais Germany

“Our teams have been so creative this past year! Even though most programs were not possible/allowed, they still invested heavily in disciplining their mentees and always finding new ways to reach people.

Recently, one of our teams did a mission rally where youth got to playfully learn what mission is and how to do it. Afterwards, a mentee came up to her and said she tried it out right away with a friend. Hallelujah!

We love stories like this because this is what we are all about: building the Kingdom of God with others and training them to go off on their own.”

Pais United Kingdom

“2019-2020 was the strangest year for those trying to serve schools in the UK as the doors of the schools closed and the schools ministry went online. But September 2021 was a different story!

Day one of the new academic year after Foundational Training and we were fully back in the schools! Since then we have communicated with 8179 children and young people in 17 schools in England & Northern Ireland.

Communicating the Gospel in collective worship assemblies, building significant relationships with young people in lunch clubs, sharing a Christian perspective in RE, mentoring, coaching, discipling young people in and outside the school environment. Praying for young people, providing positive Christian role models, seeing young people come to faith and grow in faith, it’s been a great few months for schools ministry in the UK!”

2021 Year-In-Review: Pais America

As the year comes to an end, we are celebrating all that God has done through our Pais nations in 2021! Read below to discover the great ministry stories from our nations in North and South America:

Pais Brazil

“In August, Pais Brazil invited Apprentices who had been unable to travel to the nation they were to serve in to join our Home Office initiative. Six of them rose to the challenge of applying a Kingdom-centric gospel in their home towns as they settled in for the 6-month wait before visas would be approved and borders would open.

They were trained in our catalytic tools on Zoom and were given a series of challenges to put into action in six different cities, thousands of kilometres from each other. Over the past 4 months, they each mobilized young people from their local churches through Because You’re Loved campaigns, gathering donations to give clothes and shoes to children living in poverty, raising money to help a child who was diagnosed with cancer, helping young people from impoverished communities write their first CVs, and cleaning and restoring spaces in the local community.

In a time of disappointment and uncertainty, when they could have given up or gone back to their previous lives, these six missionaries pursued the advancing God’s Kingdom in their own towns and cities, taking young people with them to share the gospel and to bring change.”

Pais North America

“This year we re-launched a Pais team in Vancouver, Canada. It’s been many years since we’ve had a Pais team in this part of Canada. Jess and Hiba are our Apprentices who make up the Pais team and have been serving at Highway Church. Highway is a church plant that was birthed in the middle of Covid.

Despite their limited access to the community, the Pais team has been involved in various initiatives. They were granted access into a few schools where they are teaching and mentoring students weekly. On Tuesday’s they serve in a local donation food program where they distribute food to families in the community. Through this they were able to engage with an Indigenous woman who had no church background and bridged the gap between community and faith. This resulted in the woman being integrated into the church and is now serving alongside the Pais team distributing food on Tuesday’s.

THIS is what Pais is all about.”

2021 Year-In-Review: Pais Africa

As the year comes to an end, we are celebrating all that God has done through our Pais nations in 2021! During the month of December, we will share the highlights of each Pais region here in our blog. Read below to discover the great ministry stories from our nations in Africa:

Pais Ghana

“One of our highlights this year was that we participated in four nights of crusades at Adeiso (eastern region of Ghana). The event was a collaboration with the youth department of Harvest Chapel International. Various activities included:

-Career guidance and counseling sessions.
-Distribution of free Bibles and free school uniforms.
-Donation Drive for teaching and learning materials.
-Donation Drive for food items.
-Donation Drive for clothing items.

1207 people attended the event with a total number of 752 giving their lives to Christ!”

Pais Kenya

“Our mission initiatives towards businesses grew to a great extent this year!

-We are now preaching in over 5 supermarkets (similar to Walmart) every month. They allow us to do church services for their staff on Sunday morning before they start their work.
-We partnered with the businesses of the Limuru area by asking for donations to repair broken windows of a local public school. Many businesses joined in to support this project.
-A weekly movie project is a new tool for us to spread the gospel. A local movie business owner agreed to use his movie place to show free Christian movies and allow us to engage the audience in a gospel debate.

We also continued with our youth work in 2021:

-We ran a VBS program in 2 different schools. It was awesome to see schools opening up again after the pandemic.
-Pais Kenya participated in the Gospel Flame Project, a special evangelistic team that goes to towns preaching the gospel. Our team of 4 missionaries have been able to win about 713 people to Christ Jesus from January 2021 until now.

This year we have seen a total of over 1500 people come to Christ Jesus in Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania mission work.”

Pais South Africa

“Aaron has been part of the Pais Youth Academy since 2019. When he first joined, he was one of the quiet ones. Keeping to himself and not being very vocal in group discipleship discussions.

Since then, he has shared his testimony in youth, been a part of a leadership team launching a kids program for the community, preached in Sunday service, his school asked him to pray at the opening of their new library, he has been a leader on kids camps, mission projects and has attended every training opportunity he is given chance to.

We are so proud of how Aaron has grown from being quiet to being a key leader among the youth and kids in the community. The kids in the community are always looking for him, he has become like a pastor to the kids in the community.

Aaron’s heart is really for God and the children, as Pais teams have come and gone and the members have changed he has remained an integral part of the youth academy and built strong relationships with every Pais team present in his local church. Many children are attending church because of his leadership at such a young age.

We have been delighted to hear that he would like to join Pais upon completing school as he is such a pleasure to work with and an impact for God’s kingdom.”

Pais Nigeria

“One of our major highlights this year was when we were allowed to minister in a school for the first time in over 7 months due to covid!

Our work revolves a lot around schools and student communities. We find that the impact we have on young people easily filters into every fabric of our society, hence our frustration when we couldn’t go into schools for such a long time.

But we kept knocking and praying until we had our breakthrough, and it came in style. We were accepted into an unusual school: one of the best high schools in western Nigeria owned and run by a former president of our nation and with a very notable and well respected alumni community.

Fast forward from that breakthrough, we are already reaching 5000+ students and youths in 3 regions all through the country.”

Multiply Your Impact!

Multiply Your Impact!

Meet Abhishek, he is from Chennai, India and was one of the students reached by our Pais Project program! Read his student testimony below:

“I really loved having the Pais teams in my school, we developed a great bond and relationship. We used to have our Bible study after class every Wednesday. We sang songs along with the team, played games together, and always moved a step closer to Christ after these moments.

I have been especially blessed by Clement, Pais India’s National Director. Clement also had a great impact on the lives of my friends. I have learned a lot about Jesus’ life from him and I still live by the lessons he taught us from the Bible. My teachers and my parents were surprised to see a change in my life and a desire to multiply my impact.

Even now after my graduation, the influence they had on me is still strong. I now have the same heart towards mentoring and walking in discipleship with those around me!”

Pursuing The Calling

Pursuing The Calling

Meet Feline, a Team Leader serving in Pais Calgary! Even though her Mission Year did not go as expected at first, she kept pursuing God’s calling for her life. Through her faithfulness, Feline saw God opening new doors and demonstrated an example of a Kingdom-centric life. Read her testimony below:

“I was always passionate about working with kids and students of all different ages and I was involved in a lot of youth programs back home in Germany. Through my involvement, I developed a deep passion for sharing my faith with the next generation.

I heard about Pais from a friend and joined Pais Canada in September 2020. I went into my first year with many expectations, but Covid had a bigger impact than I could have imagined. Through all the restrictions we have faced in Canada, I have learned how to be flexible and spontaneous in ministry. Even though some doors were closed due to the limitations, God opened many others elsewhere.

Even when it was hard, God showed us different ways to reach students and to study His word together. I experienced God’s guidance especially when launching the Pais Youth Academy and seeing older students stepping up as leaders for the younger ones.

I am currently serving in my second year with a new team in Calgary. I decided to stay on Pais because I felt like God wanted to use me in a different way and called me to invest more in the young people we are working with here. I’m crazy excited to keep seeing what God has in store for our team this year and how he will work in and through us during the coming months!”

A Willing Heart

A Willing Heart

Meet Andrew Slagle! Andrew is currently serving as a Team Leader in Pais Colorado. He first joined Pais England and is now back in his home country! Andrew has shown a willingness to be used by God and has thus seen many young people drawing closer to Christ. Read Andrew’s story below:

“I heard about Pais for the first time when I was studying at Capernwray Bible College in England. Pete Baker, the National Director of Pais England, came to my school as a guest speaker and shared what Pais is and what they do. I loved studying the Bible and deepening my relationship with the Lord during that time, but when I learned about the heart behind Pais, I thought it would be a great chance to be the hands and feet of Christ and get involved in ministry. I joined Pais England 5 months later!

I felt like for many years I was a “Sunday Christian” and stayed in my comfort zone for a long time…I have only really begun to understand what the great commission really means, “Go, therefore and make disciples of all nations.” This statement rings even truer to me as I’m now serving back in my home country, USA!

Since I’ve been on Pais, I’ve gotten to help lead someone to faith for the first time, witness many student baptisms, and just walk with students in their faith journey. A story that sticks out, is about a middle school boy that started coming to our youth group last year. He was very outgoing and kind of a goofball, and it seemed like he was only there for the games and snacks. But when we had a worship and prayer night, he came up to me and asked for prayer and said that he wanted to follow Jesus. I was kind of taken back, but my heart was overjoyed! He gave his life to Jesus that night, and has been coming to youth ever since. Now he is regularly asking questions about God and how he can spend time with Him. His story is just one of the many students that we see drawing closer to the Lord. Praise God!”
