First We Went Ourselves
In 1999 we left our home Church in Richmond, North Yorkshire, as a newly engaged couple to join the Pais Project as interns in Great Britain. We joined Pais because we both have a passion for our local community and this is matched by a desire to gain a greater level of experience and understanding of mission & discipleship.
Our first year working with Pais saw us both serving on teams in the West Midlands of the UK before returning for our 2nd year to the North East of England to establish a new team there. We served with Pais for many years and in many different roles. God has greatly increased our understanding, experience & capacity as both disciples and as leaders.
Then As Pastors, We Send Others
12 years later we’re still in Richmond where we are now the Pastors of ‘Influence Church’. We have been senior leaders here for just over 3 years and have seen God do some exciting things through our adventure of local Church. Our Church has more than doubled in size over the past 2 years and has started many new programs that minister to hundreds of people in our community each week in addition to our Sunday events. As well as local Church, we’re also privileged to serve as part of a leadership team within the Assemblies of God (AOG) in Great Britain where we help to develop, equip & inspire Churches across the North of England.
The Bible teaches the great Kingdom Principle of ‘Reaping & Sowing’ and we’ve certainly seen the effect of this through our relationship with the Pais Movement. Over the past 13 years our Church has sent 12 young people on Pais who have served in town & cities across the UK and the globe!
They Are Now Serving With Us As Leaders
Many have now returned home to Richmond and are playing key roles within the staff & leadership team of Influence Church. Of our current church staff all of our Key Leaders team, Youth Pastors & Children’s Pastor have completed at least 1 year on a Pais team, several of then served for additional years as team leaders and other leadership roles! For these individuals the legacy of their time on Pais is far more than just a year out. It gave them a firm foundation on which they are continuing to build strong & effective ministries through the local Church!
