Tony Miller is the Pioneering Director for the Pais Movement in Australia. He is married to Julie and they have three children, Claire, Owen and Stella. They are looking forward to seeing God do amazing things in Australia and hope to help spark a movement in a nation that has worldwide influence.

Until the summer of 2015, Tony has spent his life in the United States and he has served in full time youth ministry since 2000 in California and Colorado. He has over 20 years experience in youth ministry and is more excited now than ever before about the opportunity to impact young people’s lives for the Kingdom of God. He has seen the trends of youth ministry come and go, but has also seen how rediscovering the basic principles of discipleship and mentoring will transform a youth group.

Since 2010, Tony has partnered with Pais to have 7 teams and 36 apprentices. In 2008, he pioneered The Rabbi Project, which combines Biblical worldview training, local service projects, worship, prayer, and other spiritual disciplines to equip and challenge students to own and live out their faith. Through partnerships with other churches and organizations, he also helped establish a micro-enterprise in rural Guatemala in 2009 that has a 100% payback rate and is now self-funding.

In 1994, Tony sensed God’s call on his life for youth ministry. He decided to quit baseball and give up his scholarship to take a part-time youth ministry role at a small church to pursue his calling. In 1997, he was accepted to an audition-only ministry team sponsored by Vanguard University of Southern California. The team of four men traveled the western United States to serve and minister at High School summer Christian camps and various other youth ministry functions throughout his senior year.

Tony is passionate about discipleship and mentoring and teaches very practical principles on how to incorporate these into ministry by redefining how it works.  He also teaches on how to incorporate spiritual disciplines into ministry in ways that equip young people to take ownership of their faith.

Tony is using the Triangle-Shape as his catalyst. A Triangle brings design, progress and creativity to a team.

What others say

In working closely with Tony for five years, I observed four things every single day: a deep desire to know and love God, a teachable spirit always hungering to learn and grow, a distinct ability to mentor and develop young leaders, and a passion to reach students with Christ. In my 25 years of ministry, Tony is by far one of my favorite brothers in faith.

My wife and I have known Tony & Julie for almost 15 years. Throughout that time he and Julie have had an unwavering commitment to the spiritual development of the next generation of Christ followers. Joining Pais Australia is a natural next step in their ministry to youth and young adults. I am confident that God will work through Tony and Julie in this next season of their lives to raise up many mature believers in Australia.

I had the opportunity to work with Tony and the Pais team both as a high school principal, and as the district superintendent. Tony has an obvious gift to work with and lead young people. He is a true servant leader willing to take the risk for the task at hand. He helped change the culture of our district through teaching our kids to serve.
