You don’t have to go to Africa to be a Missionary
In 2015, when my apprenticeship at a book publisher came to an end, I started to think about my next steps. At the time, I already knew that I wanted to do something that allowed me to use my gift in media and also teach me more about Jesus. After six months of searching for the right program, I found myself with a lot of closed doors. Knowing that God had a perfect plan, I didn’t lose hope. One day my roommate told me about the Pais Movement. I looked up the website (which I found really appealing) and after giving it some thought and prayer, I applied for the infrastructure track. It was a decision that I had a lot of peace about. I was sure it would be the right thing for me.
I was accepted on the program and I’ve been working as a media apprentice at the Pais Global HQ in Texas since August 2016. I’m loving it. I’ve been able to learn and develop skills within my focus of interest and use my gifts for God’s glory. In addition, I’ve been introduced to new methods of Bible study, mission and prayer and can already see how God is changing my character for the better. I also get the opportunity to work with a local youth group, lead worship and use my knowledge in social media.
The Pais Movement has given me the opportunity that I was looking for. I am able to develop my organisational skills in media, grow in God and do mission with young people in the community. I have a wonderful host home and have made great friends with other Pais apprentices. What I create and design has an influence worldwide. I am doing what I am passionate about and influencing the Kingdom of God at the same time.
What is the most effective thing that you can do for the Kingdom? You have a talent that God has given you and, whatever it is, the Pais Movement offers the opportunity to use it. You are who you are for a reason. If you let him, God will show you how you can be most effective for His glory. I truly have discovered that you don’t have to go to Africa to be a missionary. God can use you anywhere.
